ABOUT
BLOG:
I am not, nor do I purport to be, a food expert. I’m just a dude with a healthy appetite for often unhealthy foods and a passion for coffee. What little I do know about food comes from my mom, Cathy, and my sister, Liz, who are both terrific cooks.
As a photojournalist at the Advocate, I spend a lot of time outside the office in the towns I cover. It’s sort of a joke around the newsroom that I judge the quality of my assignments based on their proximity to my favorite lunch joints.
In fact, I often jockey for jobs that are near, for example, Valencia Luncheria, in Norwalk, then pray they will have the sea scallop and Gorgonzola arepas on the daily specials menu.
Long story short: I now have a blog.
I’m sure there will be more to this than a review site for lunch spots à la ‘cheap eats.’ One of my passions in the world of food is coffee, particularly espresso. It’s sort of a sickness. More on this later…I feel the urge to go pull a ristretto.
ME:

Chris Preovolos
I’ve been a staff photojournalist at The Advocate since graduating from San José State University in San Jose, Calif. in 2003. I’ve worked as a photojournalism intern at six daily newspapers, including The Star-Ledger, Indianapolis Star and the Baton Rouge Advocate.
In my free time I’m striving to produce a God-shot using my home-roasted espresso blend on my PIDed Rancilio Silvia.
More of my work can be seen at www.preovolos.com.
